Preservation Hall, Blind Boys to tour together

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Blind Boys of Alabama get booked an extensive co-headlining tour that kicks off Sept. 16 in Fort Collins, Colorado and continues intermittently until spring 2009.

These two stalwarts of American roots music have shared out some recent history. Preservation Hall appears on the Blind Boys' acclaimed "Down in New Orleans" CD, released in January. The Blind Boys have performed at Preservation Hall for a individual event, and the Preservation Hall circle joined the Blind Boys for a Tipitina's testify in April. That concert was filmed for a DVD due in early 2009.

Their marijuana cigarette "Down by the Riverside" tour includes stops at B.B. King's Blues Club in New York City on Sept. 23; the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. on Sept. 28; the University of Alabama in Birmingham on Oct. 18; and the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 22. No Louisiana dates ar scheduled.
